Friday Weigh In:
I am so, so, so, SO excited because mom is doing WW with me again. When we do it together it is so much fun and we are both very successful because we have each other to lean on. Plus, with the personal coaching (which I actually look forward to now) I think I'll be able to handle this with ease.
Starting Weight: 284.4
Previous Weight: 251.6
Current Weight: 250.0
Lost/Gained: -1.6
Total Lost: -34.4
Almost 35 pounds gone! Yay! I lost and I'm thrilled! I am also thrilled that the weather is going to be super nice this week and I can go for walks. Mom bought Carson and I a jogging stroller too! I'm excited to pick it up and start using it. Gotta get those steps logged on my FitBit!
I still haven't taken any pictures for progress and I plan on doing that sometime this week. Maybe this afternoon or tomorrow. I am trying to figure out what I want to wear in them. I'm thinking a tank top and shorts.... if I'm brave enough I'll do a swimming suit. Maybe....
The action plan I made with my coach this week was:
- To weigh in at my meeting
- To walk at least 2 days and at least 1.5 miles
- To try something new foodwise
I'm getting red beets in my Farmbox this week and I've never had fresh red beets before. Therefore, that is my something new. And since I will have a lovely jogging stroller, Carson and I (and mom) can go for walks after I get off of work since the weather is going to be gorgeous. (In the Midwest anything above 40ยบ is gorgeous)

Goals:
I am part of a group on Facebook and today's photo of the day was "Goal". I found this picture from my honeymoon in 2011.

At that point in my life I was hovering between 162-165. In my mind I had a vanity goal weight of 150 but looking back (as it always happens) I now realize that 160-165 was really a nice weight on me. I was active, I was in a size 10 or M, and I was HAPPY. In the back of my mind I still thought I was fat. Oh how wrong I was. I would love to get back to that point and know that the reason I got there in the first place is because I lived an active lifestyle as well as eating right. So, getting back into activity is going to be huge for me. I want to run again. I miss it so very much. The best way to get back to it? Start walking.
What is your favorite activity? How do you make sure to do it daily?

Wow 35 pounds down! Congratulations!!! I just started working out again and have about 70 pounds to lose. I feel like that is a lot and I can get overwhelmed, so I love seeing posts like this. You are an encouragement to me! Thanks so much for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! And you can do it! Just stay focused on little goals and you'll be there in no time!
DeleteI love walking and having a Fitbit keeps me motivated! You've done an amazing job! 35lbs?? Good for you. Thanks for sharing your story!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI am not a fan of running, but I do enjoy long walks in nature. If I am walking alone, I usually listen to music or a podcast, and that way I am more focused on what I am listening to instead of counting how much longer I have to walk to compensate for an earlier ice cream.
ReplyDelete35 pounds is HUGE! You are doing so great! I really like to run when I can do it outside. A treadmill just isn't the same. I also like lifting weights, because realizing that I can lift a little more is very motivating to keep going.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on losing 35 pounds! Good health is our most valuable asset. I love pilates and spin classes and my favorite is a split class with 30 minutes of each. I don't do it daily, but when I travel and don't have time to regularly exercise, I truly miss it. Wishing you all the best as you work toward your final goal.
ReplyDeleteAMAZING!!! 35 lbs! Good for you! And so inspiring. I know what you mean about looking back and thinking when I was at an ideal weight, how hard I was on myself at the time, and now I am where I never thought I would be. I love that you are keeping track of your efforts on your blog so we can all be part of this journey with you. For me - I love dancing around the house to good music. I've done a few exercise videos that integrate dancing, but I definitely don't do enough of it. I also like walking a lot. Again - not enough of it. Your post just reminded me to get started again! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteGreat job losing those 35 pounds! I think WW is a great program and I'm glad your mom is doing it with you. How long have you been vegetarian? I'm about to hit 10 years.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your weight loss so far and hooray for all the exercise! I'm sure it's much more fun to tackle this goal with your mom!
ReplyDeleteOkay holy crap go you! This is amazing and is inspiring my to put down my brownie and maybe (just maybe) talk a walk! Isn't it funny how we look back on times when we thought we were fat and realize we weren't! I would die to be back to my college "freshman 15" days and back then I loathed my body. It is teaching me now to love where I am because who knows how I will look in ten years but I also look back and try to get inspiration to get back there. You are amazing and I will for sure be following this so I can hopefully lose like you!!
ReplyDeleteHi Becky,
ReplyDeleteI have such respect and admiration for you. It is so helpful to follow your weight loss journey. Losing weight is one of the hardest things in the world. I have been trying to lose extra weight for a couple of years and even though I follow a healthy diet progress is very slow. I am so glad your mom is involved. Kudos to you! Enjoy the journey!
Good for you, putting this out there for accountability! Proud of you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your weight loss journey. Your experience is an encouraging one.
ReplyDeleteI don't do anything daily, unfortunately, which will be changing very soon. I was walking daily, but haven't in about a month. I should start back this week. Congrats.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on losing 35 pounds! My favorite activity aside from hanging out with my family will be curling up to a home decor magazine. I don't get too much leisurely time alone nowadays but will definitely make more time for that in our backyard once the weather starts getting warm.
ReplyDeletecongrats on your weight loss and your realistic goal. Sounds like you are thinking through this. I have lost 65 and have 40 more to go. At times being in the slow middle of a long weight loss, seems muddled and discouraging. Reading your blog tonight has encouraged me to keep going. Thanks
ReplyDeleteWoohoo for progress, a plan & a healthier life ahead! I too had the 150 mark in my head as when I'd finally make it. Actually I want to get just under that but I too feel good between 155-165. That's only about 15 pounds away for me so I just need to get back there. I've always bashed walking as "way too lame" since I'm an intensity junkie at the gym but as my work is nonstop sitting, I think walking might make a bigger difference than it once would have. If I make a nice walk a daily minimum, my gym efforts should be even better. And with the weather in Vegas so gorgeous (75-85 already in March), I have no excuse. I warmed up my pool to swim a little yesterday & that felt pretty glorious again. I need to use that too!
ReplyDeleteYes, congratulations! It sounds like you have a solid plan, and are following through on it! :) I am prepping for getting myself walking as soon as the sidewalks clear, here in Massachusetts...(snowiest winter ever!!!) What a great inspiration to hear your progress!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're doing a great job! 35 pounds is a big accomplishment! I'm just starting to try and lose weight and it is just so hard to stay motivated. Reading about success like yours definitely helps give me motivation, so thank you. I just tried for the first real walk of the season last weekend and ended up with myself and my dog covered in mud, so I think I'll have to wait bit longer for the weather to clear, but then I plan to do lots of walking as well.
ReplyDeleteWow 35 lbs. that is Awesome! I'm currently using a diet system called HMR which I have to eat and drink what they give me, trying to retrain my body. I started at 252 and now I'm at 239. I'd like to get down to 150. I also got a tracker to use. Good Luck and keep going!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your weight loss!! Woohoo! I'm also on a weight loss journey, and it's great to know that you're experiencing amazing results. Keep up the great work, and please post pics!! I definitely look forward to seeing your progress and joining in with you! Thanks for this.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your weight loss! Great job! You only walk 2 times a week1.5 miles? That's a doable goal.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on you weight loss. Warmer weather should allow for more activities here.
ReplyDeleteWay to go! Having your mom alongside is such a treat! I love doing PiYo and enjoy the occasional run. What keeps me consistent is the quote that says "Eat/exercise for the body you want tomorrow, not the body you have today."
ReplyDeleteKudos to you, 35 pounds down! My favorite activity is walking outside. I usually take a 1-2 mile walk every other day, and now that weather is warming up I can get back to my daily walks. I'm so excited, I always feel like a million bucks after a lengthy walk.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you for first, sticking to your goal and being committed; second, for your inspiration to keep going and 3rd, for your amazing weight success thus far! I am rooting you on!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you for first, sticking to your goal and being committed; second, for your inspiration to keep going and 3rd, for your amazing weight success thus far! I am rooting you on!
ReplyDeleteYay for your progress! My fav activity is yoga, followed by running. Haven't been doing much running lately, but looking forward to getting back into it!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your process!!!! Losing some weight is on my goal, have about 10-15 lbs to lose.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great accomplishment! That's awesome, I've lost 19 but I've been stuck there for a couple of weeks. I am a big canoer and can't wait until it warms up a little bit more and I can get out on the lake although I can't do it every single day. I am going to start walking again. I've had to stop for awhile because I am having a huge problem with circulation in my legs, but I hope to get back to it very soon!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! In April of 2012 I weighed 300 pounds, I was pre diabetic and on a short trail to destruction. I made a decision that I was going to be there for my daughter, I took a manual labor job. I lost 100 pounds in 6 months. I have mostly kept it off, I am at 220 pounds right now while I am recovering from a back injury but I plan to drop that as soon as I am able to.
ReplyDeleteWow! It sounds like you are doing great so far! Keep it up and I am sure you will get back to where you want to be again! I always tell myself I am going to start jogging and eating healthier but then it gets put off! I really want to actually do it soon since the weather is getting nice! I am in Southern Missouri so I am a bit like you, if the weather gets nice out I feel more motivated to actually do it! Although I prefer at least 50 degrees out! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your progress! I have done WW before and it does work. I would have loved to have done it with a friend. The two friends that would have done it me - one had moved and one was getting ready to move. That constant support from a friend or family member in addition to the WW support would be wonderful! A jogging stroller sounds great! (We have four boys and have had a total of four strollers...never a jogging one, though!) ~Adrienne
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post. I am thankful I am not the only one that blogs about my weight loss. I am on weight watchers as well and its a great program. I agree the more people you do it with the easier and more fun it will be. I also have a fitbit and I made a group for motivational stuff on fb. Great job so far. Remember you will have good days and bad days... but the goal is worth more than giving up!
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing!
Congrats! That is great! Keep making those goals and you will reach them. That is inspiring.
ReplyDelete35 pounds down is excellent! Good work. I agree that an active lifestyle and good diet are so important to our health. Press on.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the weight loss, Becky! You're doing so so great! Don't be too hard on yourself, though. You are a new mom and breastfeeding, both can be really tough on the body. Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll succeed. I think you're doing great!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 35 lost! Having an accountability partner/motivator is so beneficial when trying to make healthy changes. Having your mom in the process with you sounds like so much fun. Good luck to both of you. Another thing that you said really truck me. " I now realize that 160-165 was really a nice weight on me." That is where I am and I feel so fat. I was down to 145 and then my weight ballooned due to Hypothyroid and adrenal issues. Your comment made me realize that I will know my ideal weight when I FEEL good...not when I reach a weight that I THINK I should be.
ReplyDeleteI am 20 pounds overweight and can't add anymore I have finally reached the point where I must do something. I have signed up for a 4-week boot camp to get my butt in gear!
ReplyDeleteI can really relate to your comments about thinking you were fat when you were at a weight you now realize was right for you. I look at younger pictures of myself and I can't really understand how on earth I thought I was fat. I looked great! I've been working at losing the weight and it isn't easy, but I'm already feeling better, so I'm trying to keep at it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your weight loss so far! You're doing amazing!
Congrats on your progress toward your weight goal! My all-time favorite activity is hiking. Daily? Well, that's a different story. I do yoga and pilates 3x a week. The in-between days are spent doing laundry (all of the clothes start on the second floor and end up in the basement). I end up doing each set of stairs at least 5 times each laundry day.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Having accountability (your mom and WW) is such a key to being successful! I do something daily - I've discovered that if I miss a day, it's too easy to miss the next, etc. But I do mix it up - walking, jogging, pilates, yoga, spin, etc.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the weight loss. Keep up the great work.
ReplyDeleteI am getting more active, not necessarily for weight management, but to feel better & be healthier.
That is wonderful! Good job on the weight loss! It is added motivation for me to start working out :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your weight loss. It is is great to have someone to go through the process with. Keep up the good work!
